A truly disturbing, artery-clogging
concoction sold recently at the
Scottish Country Fair at
Macalester College, in
St. Paul,
Minnesota. It consists basically of a
hard boiled egg on a stick, wrapped in
sausage, covered in breading, and
deep-fried. A Scottish Egg on a Stick is roughly the same size and shape of a
caramel apple. Sold along with the Egg on a Stick were
meatballs on a stick, which were to me far less
troubling. Food
on a stick is a Minnesota
carnival food tradition, which can be found in full bloom at the
Minnesota State fair, featuring some 28 different glorious foods on a stick.
Not being an omnivore, I declined the opportunity to try this amazing Scottisotan delicacy, instead opting for the cheese curds.
