Wild Things
Embedded under my skin, a distant reminder from long ago
encapsulated forever; a bramble protected inside.
Like a grain of sand within an oyster, created as if a pearl<./p>
Consuming; as if a festering thorn in your side, an uncontrollable beast.
Growing rampant, taking over the countryside;
despite the efforts of those who would control it.
Determined to prosper, to flourish, to spread;
to distribute seeds all over the land.
Protecting its fruit within prickly thorns.
The fruit of the mother earth.
A gift of nature, ripened by the summer sun;
lucious, juicy, sweet yet tart; delectable.
A summer's bounty to be had,
by those that dare to confront.
The wild Cascade blackberry.
