Gringotenango is an uncomplimentary nickname for the city of Panajachel, Guatemala. The name comes from the words gringo, meaning a white person, and -tenango, from the Nahuatl word meaning a place surrounded by a wall. (This ending is used for many Guatemalan cities, for example Quetzaltenango, Chimaltenango, and Huehuetenango).

The name refers to the large number of foreign expats and tourists there.
