One of the three
German teams in the
NFL Europe.
Thunder was founded after the season of
1998 replacing the
London Monarchs.
They never played a winning season, finishing their first season with 3-7 and their second with 4-6.
They play in the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Stadion, which is, as far as I remember the second largest stadium in Berlin (after the
Olympia Stadion).
Head Coach is Peter Vaas and their biggest star is the former
soccer player and now kicker
Axel Kruse.
The
2001 season is Thunders first winning season, finishing
regular season with 6-4 and getting into the
World Bowl IX against
Barcelona Dragons. With a 24-17 over Barcelona, Berlin got the
World Bowl, winning it in its only third season in the
NFL Europe. And by winning the 2002
World Bowl, they are the first team to defend the
World Bowl.
