Inti was the Incan Sun god as well as the god of
rainbows. He was thought to be the son of their Creator
Viracocha and Viracocha's wife
Mama Quilla, goddess of the
Moon. He was also thought to be the father of the first
Inca,
Manco Capac and
Mama Oello.
Inti was represented as a golden disc with a human face. He was also known as Apu Punchau, which means "head of the day". The ruling Inca was considered to be the living representative of Inti.
