Wednesday
Be inside me
when the sun comes up,
and I won't ever fear
the dark
again.
Free me.
My God,
what a terrifying sunrise to Survive.
The turning of grief into wine,
my body breaking like bread against you.
Communion
on the hind leg of shadow,
on the cusp of morning
This inevitable
and irrevocable
act of Summer
we have committed.
I still wear the smell of it.
Everywhere you touched me
I became
Beautiful.
The
" please,"
I spoke against your mouth wasn't
meant for you.
Nor the,
"thank you."
They were just
the elemental parts of prayer
left in me
after I burned down
like Atlanta.
Leaving only a woman who would never
go hungry again.
And a man who no longer gave a damn,
rolling across my bed
trading joys and
fever
I am still
Opening
beneath your touch
a flower pushing
petals from its center.
Pollen
offering nectar offering
the soft
underbelly
of the
Unrepentant woman
who bloomed against you.
