People talk about inheriting traits from one's elders by saying "it's
in your blood." I can't say I like the phrase, partly because it
disregards the effects of how one is raised, and partly because it
mentions blood. I do not like thinking about blood. Blood is sticky and
gross. It turns brown when it dries. If you can see it, someone is
having a very bad day, possibly you. Why would I be interested in
blood? I am not a vampire, for heaven's sake!
I mean I'm pale enough to be a vampire. But all that happens when I go out in the sun is I burn a little.
Wait a minute.
