(1) Brand of lambic beers originally produced in the eponymous brewery in Anderlecht, Brussels, but now transferred to Interbrew's Leuven plant. Available ubiquitously in Belgium, the kriek and other fruit beers are made with fruit syrup and consequently far too sweet and faintly industrial; the gueuze is equally sugary and consequently disgusting.
(2) An inner suburb of
Manchester, formerly home to the city's
zoo as well as its
dog-racing and
speedway track, now a dull semi-industrial area on the way out to
Old Trafford.
