A sweet chewy confection comprised mainly of sugar, corn syrup, and flavoring.
Recipe:
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 3/4 cup water
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon corn starch
- 1/2 tablespoon margarine
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon of flavoring (vanilla, chocolate, pomegranite, whatever)
Combine all ingredients except the flavoring, and stir over medium-high heat until the mixture boils rapidly. Boil until a small drop of the mix in cold water solidifies to the desired consistency. Add flavor, then pour onto a large greased platter to cool. When it is cool enough to handle, stretch and and cut the taffy into bite-sized cylinders.
