crystal undergoes a change in resistance when it is
strained. Normally, the
resistance of a
material is
R = (resistivity * length) / area
In a piezoresistor, the strain alters the resistivity, unlike a simple metal
strain gauge, in which the
resistance is altered simply by the change in
dimensions.
