An
acoustic coupler
is a device that ataches to a phone and then to a
RJ-11
jack (phone line). It makes a direct plugin unnecessary. They are
old-school
computing
tools but are still useful today for a few things. Their most public apearance was in
War Games
.
Acoustic couplers
can be bought on ebay and other auction sites. I have seen them for sale in a few places also, but they are pretty expensive, expect to pay about $60 for a used one and $110 for a new one.
