A fictional race of humanoid creatures which star in J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" Series. Hobbits are genetically shorter than your typical human and tend to reach maximum heights of 3 feet or less. (An exception being for a briefly mentioned race of hobbit known as the "Tall Fellow" which actually grows to 4 or even five feet in length). Hobbits are known for their abnormally hairy feet and persistent curiosity. Most hobbits enjoy a peaceful life, however, some grow an inclination to use their size and silence for thieving and stalking. The hit RPG "Dungeon's and Dragons" presents hobbits as the ideal thief character, gaining an extreme advantage in the stealth area of gameplay. Hobbits are known to humans as "halflings" and are often displayed as such in D&D gaming.
