One of the many songs inspired by Jane Asher - but not in such a loving frame of mind as most of the others. Paul McCartney was angry with her because she had gone to Bristol to appear in a play. He was to comment, 'My whole existence for so long centered around a bachelor life: I don't treat women as most people do. My life generally has always been very lazy and not normal. I knew I was selfish. It caused a few rows. Jane went off to Bristol to act. I said, "OK then, leave, I'll find someone else." It was shattering to be without her. That was when I wrote "I'm Looking Through You" - for Jane.'

The number first surfaced on the 1965 Rubber Soul album and has also been featured in the 1978 The Beatles Collection set.
