studio album by the
Super Furry Animals, released on
July 23, 2001. Nominated for the
2001 Technics Mercury Music Prize a day later. The album is the first to be simultaneously released on
CD and
DVD. The DVD features a 5:1
surround sound mix, and 18
videos including 5 for the bonus tracks on the DVD, all of which were produced for between £2000 and £7000. Video directors include
Pete Fowler,
The Ministry of Truth, the
Dogme collective and the SFA's hairdresser. Amongst the DVD bonuses are 14
re-mixes of the tracks found on the album, and a 5:1 surround sound mix.
Guesting on the album are fellow Welshman John Cale from The Velvet Underground, playing piano on Presidential Suite, Paul McCartney plays celery on Receptacle For The Respectable , and Sean O'Hagan and Marcus Holdaway from The High Llamas arrange strings for Presidential Suite and Alternative Route To Vulcan Street.
