College football bowl game held at
Sun Devil Stadium in
Tempe,
Arizona. Part of the
Bowl Championship Series, receiving the rotating
national championship game every four years. In the first national championship game under the BCS system, the Fiesta Bowl hosted the
Tennessee Volunteers' victory over the
Florida State Seminoles on
4 January 1999.
When not hosting the national championship game, the Fiesta is automatically assigned the Big 12 Conference champion, as long as that team is not itself playing in the NC game.
