Legandary men's college basketball coach of the University of Louisville Cardinals from 1971-2001. His teams won 2 NCAA championships, and had 6 Final Four appearances.

Crum played college basketball at UCLA under John Wooden from 1956-1958. About a decade later, Crum became one of Wooden's assistant coaches and was there for part of UCLA's run of championships, before getting the top spot at Louisville in 1971.

Over the next 30 seasons, his teams won 20 or more games 21 times. Louisville made 23 appearances in the NCAA tournament during that span.

Under Crum, Louisville were NCAA champions in 1980 (ironically, beating UCLA in the finals) and 1986 (defeating Duke).

Denny Crum was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1994.

On March 2, 2001, Crum announced he was retiring as Louisville coach at the end of the season.

His coaching record (through 1999-2000 season) is an impressive 663-276.
