Latin for "Compass" (the drawing kind), is also a constellation near the front part of Centaurus, close to Rigel and Kentaurus. "Discovered" by the astronomer Nicolas Lacaille, who figured that Circinus ("The Compass") would be used in conjunction with Norma ("The Square") and Caelum ("The Chisel") by Sculptor. The constellation contains neither bright nor named stars, it looks like a very sharp angled triangle.
