Vitae is also life energy in Asheron's Call. When you die, you are resurrected at a lifestone and temporarily lose 5% of your Vitae. By fighting monsters and getting experience points you wear off this vitae reduction. Players who have a vitae penalty due to death will often say that they *have* vitae.
