The unit in which the capacity of a PBX is measured. A port is an interface capable of handling 1 conversation. In the PBX all ports are connected to switching modules that can connect different ports to each other. In these digital times a physical interface can cary more than 1 conversation. These interfaces than count as more than 1 port. For example a T1 interface is counted as 24 ports.
