A fake documentary. This movie genre is usually comic, and contains such classics as "Spinal Tap", "Fear of a Black Hat", and "Waiting for Guffman". However, a badly made mockumentary can get very tiring very quickly.

Other examples: Woody Allen's Zelig and, to a lesser extent, Bananas; some of Monty Python's television pieces (Flying Circus made a mockery of just about anything and everything at one time or another), and Eric Idle, with Neil Innes, conceived The Rutles as part of their Rutland Weekend Television TV show - the rest is history. Or something. Insert your own Tailwind joke if you wish; I won't go there.
