A word generally used in place of a more "colorful" expletive, in order to avoid speaking profanity. Few people who euphemize the concept of profane words realize that it's not the word that makes it profane, it is how the people around you&feel about the word, or the idea behind the word, that makes it that way. Thus, using the word "freakin'" in order to avoid "that other word", yet meaning the same thing, is still profane.
