The French name for tarragon, a green herb that goes very well with fish. (And almost everything else, in my opinion. I put it on potatoes, in salad dressing, in stir fries, in shampoo...)
Anyhow, I node this in hopes that it can help some poor canadian who, like me, skims past "ESTRAGON" while reading the labels on the jars on their spice shelf, concludes that they're out of tarragon, and buys yet another jar or does without. I have three jars now. Sigh.
Estragon is also the name of one of the main characters in Beckett's existentialist play Waiting for Godot, which adds to my spice rack angst and confusion to no end, let me assure you.
