| A discography is a listing of a performer's recordings. In it's most common usage it refers to audio recordings; frequently a discography will list only albums in the most common or original form, though it is possibly to find discographies for some performers that attempt to be comprehensive and list every form of every audio recording, including regional differences. It can be very difficult to verify the accuracy or completeness of such lists, however, as it is not uncommon for artists to be uninvolved in promotional activities and may often be unaware of the existance or nonexistance of certain items.
Negativland Discography is a good example of a thorough discography (even if it is a cut-and-paste from the Negativland web site...). |
