To basdardize something is to illegitimize it. The end product is something that is similar to the original, but is obviously not the original. Context would indicate that the changes might be worthwhile, but are not acceptable for some reason. Or, it could just be someone like myself (heathen_bastard) writing up nodes that you've created but had no intention of writing up.
