Neologism coined by Hugo de Garis in his essay Cosmism: Nano Electronics and 21st Century Global Ideological Warfare for an ultra-intelligent machine.

The word formation is from "artificial" and "intellect" - where this differs from an artificial intelligence (or AI) is up to the discerning reader.
