Windows 98 setup was actually a fairly decent jump over Windows 95 setup in terms of ease of installation. Several things that 98 had over 95:



All in all, Windows 98 added a lot of things to setup that 95 lacked. A good deal of attention was paid to this, and thus it was more polished, rather than the main concern of 95 being "Let's get it working!". I still hold that 98 (SE) is the best consumer Windows option out there, (including Windows ME).
