Formed in
1983 by Douglas McCarthy, Bon Harris and David Gooday, Nitzer Ebb hit the
dance scene in the
UK. Sinon Granger, the fourth member, provided the
concepts for the
design,
artwork and
imagery of the band. In
1984, they were introduced to
PWL producer Phil Harding. They formed their own label, Power of Voice Communication, and in
1985 released their
debut single,
Isn't it Funny How Your Body Works?
In November, 1986, they had signed to Mute and released another single, Murderous. Next single was Let Your Body Learn which started making waves in the New York club scene and was followed by Join In the Chant in 1987. Their debut album, That Total Age summed up their career up to that point in May, 1987.
Harding and Gooday left the group before the release of their second album, Belief in January, 1989. With veteran producer Flood, they then released Showtime in 1990 and Ebbhead in 1991, and then Big Hit in 1995.
