The Locus Operating System is a heterogeneous, clustered, version of UNIX. It has been implemented in various forms for IBM, Pyramid, and Tandem among others. It merges the filesystems and makes programs available to users no matter which of the platforms they were compiled for. Very powerful. Very cool. Very off the beaten path and pretty dormant as an industry direction.
