Last Exit was the name of the band with which Gordon Sumner was playing, long before meeting Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers with whom he created The Police.
Sting formed Last Exit with three other members of the Newcastle Big Band.
Sting's collaboration with Gerry Richardson, John Hedley (later replaced by Terry Ellis) and Ronnie Pearson was more fruitful on the live gigging side than on the recording front as they only recorded one single together.
The band's name come from the fact that Newcastle was the last exit on the highway.
