A major part of the
United Kingdom. Although
Wales is recognised as a separate country within the union, almost all
laws passed by the British Parliament for
England apply in Wales. Most legislation that applies differently in Wales relate to the
Welsh language, such as the provision that Welsh
companies may use the
Cymraeg equivalents to "public", "limited", etc. in their names, where English companies would be required to use those terms.
England and Wales have one legal system, and as such one Law Society and Bar; in fact, most central goverment functions apply equally throughout the UK, while other parts of the UK (Northern Ireland and Scotland) have different legal systems that require different governmental treatment.
Latterly, the Welsh Assembly may pass certain legislation that only applies in Wales.
