The catchy abbreviation used by the campaign for Barry Goldwater when he ran for president. They mass produced bumper stickers, buttons and posters with this symbol boldly proclaimed in gold block letters.
Possibly the one clever thing he managed to come up with, although I'm sure he had nothing to do with it.
