Anti-Flag isn't about
anarchy. A band on AF reconds,
The Unseen is all about that though. Great lyrics about
throwing bricks at all the
cops and the like. I think that's really dumb and take serious issue with it. But Anti-Flag is, as one of their t-shirts say "not
Anti-American, Anti-Flag is
anti-war." It goes on, but I can't find a quote anywhere. Their "
new kind of army" is about kids who are "
too smart to fight" and "too smart to kill." I think they really stand out as a smart
punk rock band who isn't just all about shouting "anarchy!" At the
warped tour during the summer of 2000 they were on stage talking about
Ralph Nader and encouraging people to vote for him. Granted, you can't say they are extremely
intelligent folk on the basis that they mentioned Nader, but I think it goes to show they actually think about what they say. They talk about
corporations controlling the
government and THAT being bad, not just "blah blah, government sucks dude, fuck it."
That said, go buy their cds, it's good music if you like punk.
