Youssou N'Dour is an
African musician from
Senegal. He sings mostly in
French, but occasionally in
English. He is probably one of the best-known artists on the
world music scene. His
1990 album
Set was a bit of a hit in several
circles.
He is most well-known in the Western world for his work with Peter Gabriel, particularly the duet Shaking the Tree. He also performed a duet with Neneh Cherry called Seven Seconds, which was also a minor hit.
