In the future
no one will ask how you feel
emotions then will be so passé
gone like the hoop skirt
useless as an appendix they’ll be
and sadness then
will be quaint I expect
happiness too
and anger a thing
our grandparents knew
were you ever angry Grandfather
we’ll say
and Grandfather will smile
in a grandfatherly way
oh I got mad plenty back in the day
and we will all laugh
at how foolish it seems
because
in the future
we won’t feel a thing.
