A
Dynamic Hose Configuration Protocol topic was included in the
help files which came with the
Microsoft operating system Windows NT 4.0,
Service Pack 1. The body of the topic had nothing to do with hoses or the niceties of their configuration, instead focussing on Microsoft's implementaton of
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, or
DHCP in the
server "flavour" of the operating system.
On one hand, this was probably merely a
typographical error.
On the other hand, it may have been a deliberate
prank.
The gripping hand is that the error made it past Microsoft's
quality control, and continues to amuse those who've seen it.
