b. 1966 in
Dallas, TX
Edie Brickell started her
music career in
1985 when she was at
Southern Methodist University, was
drinking in a
bar, and got up on stage to sing with
The New Bohemians. Edie wrote most of the
songs the band played - they had a
folky,
alternative sound.
Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars, Edie's and the band's first
album, was a big
hit, mostly due to the
single "
What I Am", but they suffered from a serious case of
the sophmore slumps with
Ghost of a Dog. The band broke up shortly thereafter.
Brickell married Paul Simon; they have a child. (Update: They have three--Ed).
Brickell released a solo album in 1994.
