The Metro North is a large
train system run by the
Metropolitan Transit Authority of
New York State. It serves
Dutchess,
Putnam, and
Westchester counties in
New York, the
Bronx and
Manhattan (also individual counties), and
New Haven and
Fairfield counties in
Connecticut. There are
120 stations.
The trains are pretty
nice compared to the
subway system in New York City, and are much more
comfortable.
There are three main lines which operate out of
Grand Central Terminal:
- Harlem Line
- Hudson Line
- New Haven Line
There are two minor lines west of the
Hudson River that operate out of the
New Jersey Transit terminal in
Joboken, NJ:
- Port Jervis Line
- Pascack Valley Line
