There is a sound, but I can't place it
The breeze sends paper down the street,
into dark alleys
The noise gets louder, but I don't recognize it
The sidewalks, vacant except for the Marines and
a few journalists
The ringing is everywhere now,
we cover our ears
Whatever took out downtown is moving our way
slow, but deliberate
An hour later the only sound is dust,
settling
