A.K.A.
BRI - a terminating connection to an
ISDN connection. Provides a
segment of a
PRI or
Primary Rate Interface, allowing up to two
B-channels or "splinters" of
64Kbps Internet access. So if you use both B-channels, you get
128Kbps
In Australia, Telstra offers a connection through an OnRamp 2 MTU (Media Termination Unit) to provide up to 128Kbps access through a single Cat5 cable into an Internet Router. Cheap and easy solution.
Problem: Telstra provide no feedback to their connections, no link lights, no connection status, and the phone lines do not provide a dial tone. So you cannot check it unless you phone their telephone support desk and know the line number.
