Accessibility

accessibility, in context of media and web design, describes the ease with which blind, visually impaired, cognitive or otherwise disabled people can access the medium's content.

For websites this usually results to less tables, proper alternative descriptions of images (ALT parameters in IMG tags), and/or providing alternative representations of the resources. Generally, when your website renders OK in Lynx, your chances are good that they will be read out nicely by a speech synthesis program.
