"Are you ready to start?"

She was gathering the blankets around herself.

"Sure, let's go."

I set the bowl down on the table.

She pushed the button. The scenes faded in, hers on the left, mine on the right.

Hers started first, faintly. Mine joined in slowly after.

"How did you know when to start?" she asked.

"I don't. That's just the way it came out."

"There is no third party you know," she remarked.

"Right." It was just the way things turned out, what we were playing without knowing.

That was the first time they would be played together. The first we'd be the audience to our own performance.

"If that's not fate, I don't know what is."

"Just two arbitrarily defined halves, when put together, there's nothing else."

"Still amazes me every time."

"You've done this before?"

"You already know the answer to that."

"I suppose I just needed to ask myself."

"It's still fun to ask though, isn't it?"

She had taken off her gray sweats. She had on a white tee under.

"This is the part."

"Yeah, I can see it."

"Kind of amazing isn't it?"

"Like you said before."

"Right."

"How long are we going to do this?"

"I have it on repeat."

"At least a few cycles?"

I went to get us some drinks. It would be rainy soon.
