Walking under a blistering sun, praying for rain
I waited for things that never came
I waited for you on this sunniest of days
I waited for you, still you never came.

I prayed at the clouds to wash away my pain
I waited for the rain that never came
I wished that it didn't matter this way
I wished for you, still you never came.

I needed to know that you shared in the blame
I forgave you for thinking me a little inane
I wished that I hadn't called you again
Perhaps it's my fault; you never came.

I needed to feel your arms around me again
I waited and cried for arms that never came
I closed my eyes I cursed you by name
Still, you never came.

I almost never rhyme in poetry. I owe this now to him. Thank you for the challenge.
