My nodes are best treated as fiction. They have factual elements, but it's dressed up like a shop window in the bad end of town; you can see all the pretty things inside, shining past the ugly wire cage stopping you lobbing a brick through to get at the truth. It's all part of a cycle; a body of work featuring recurrent characters and locations - the canal, the pegged-out sheets. The suicide and the middle classes of the United Kingdom in the 80s. I need to work out the timeline and clear it up in my head, really, but at the moment it's simply evolving. With regard to voting, I notice people prefer the poetic pieces, the ones that seem to throw up two fingers against the onslaught of a mundane world against love. The ones where love fails, and the main protagonist is left alone seem to get downvoted far more. That helps me when I come to write the next one, though, so never let anyone tell you downvotes aren't useful. |
