Scholar's Mate

This is usually played on beginner, it's a cute party trick.
  1. e4 e5
  2. Qh5 Nc6
  3. Bc4 Nf6??
  4. Q×f7 mate
I'm not a very strong player, but I think White's second move (Knights are usually developed at this stage) to develop the Queen is an indicator that someone trying to play this. Secure your King and end this charade!

IIRC, Scholar's Mate is actually:

1. e4 e5
2. Bc4 Bc5
3. Qh5 Nf6??
4. Qxf7++

Avoiding Scholar's mate:
The whole key to Scholar's mate (and its many variants) is the attack on the weak square f7 (and the corresponding square for White, f2). Ensure that your opponent does not have a winning attack against these squares and you should be allright against this type of common error.
