According to Union Rubber, Inc., this is the only "real adhesive." Made from a heptane base, this highly viscous glue is extremely flammable, and its vapors may cause flash fire.
Although marketed as a clear paper fastener, rubber cement, like its other glue siblings, evaporates slowly in air and produces potent fumes. These fumes, if properly concentrated (perhaps with a Ziplock bag, or by fitting one's nose directly into the jar opening), can be inhaled to induce an entirely unpleasant headache.
