While often used as a management buzzword, this can be a useful definition of a person's behaviour. This word both means "One who takes the Initiative", and also "One who takes personal Responsibility".

Normally saying that someone is proactive is taken to mean that the person gets on with life and work and doesn't wait for things to go their way - They take control of their life.
