Anyone who is enamored with the work of Sonny Bono can be said to be pro Bono. However, pro bono is actually derived from Latin and means for the public good. The term is usually applied to lawyers who waive their fees and donate their time and legal expertise to a "good cause".

Not to be confused with Pro Bonobo.
