A civilian who is licensed to fly single-engine fixed-wing aircraft. Getting your private pilot's license requires some ground school, flight instruction, and around $2500. Most people view this as a hobby, since it is rather expensive to own or rent a plane and buy the fuel, not to mention getting the license itself. You also can't use this license for commercial purposes, i.e., you can't make money with it, unless you do it covertly.
