The power switch is the switch that is suppose to turn the computer on and off. With the earlier computers it is directly connected to the power supply and the only means besides unplugging it. With the newer ones, it is connected to the motherboard. It requires s 4 sec hold to shut down the computer. Sometimes this is not required at all, because new hardware allows the keyboard and/or mouse to turn on and off the computer.
