positive space

In the airline industry, "positive space" denotes a ticket which guarantees its bearer a seat on an airplane.

This is in contrast to standby or "space available" travel. Employees who want to travel on the cheap have to go standby, although directors and executives can fly positive space for free (and usually enjoy said priveledge on every airline in the world).
